Sidoarjo – The Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan specially inspected the urban gas network construction in Mojokerto Regency, East Java, on Sunday (11/08). "If there are no obstacles, Pertamina expects this Gas Distribution Network project in Mojokerto to be completed as per December 31, 2017, amounting to about 5,101 SR," said Suko. Mojokerto Regency will eventually follow Surabaya and Sidoarjo whose residents have already enjoyed natural gas for household.

During the visit, Jonan also took time to stop by at the Pondok Pesantren Manbaul Hikam in Desa Putat, Sidoarjo, to see the complete gas network project that has been utilized. "Sidoarjo sets an example that this gas network is also beneficial not only for households but also for students in boarding schools," Suko continued.

Currently there are 10.350 Household Connections in Sidoarjo established using APBN Fiscal Year of 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2014 managed by Pertamina. Gas supply is obtained from PT Lapindo Brantas Inc, with total allocation of 0.4 MMSCFD.

The urban gas network project is developed by the ESDM Ministry every year to encourage households and small customers to utilize natural gas as form of energy diversification. In 2017, the Ministry of Energy is aiming to establish 59,809 household connections in 10 cities. In 2019, as stated by the ministry’s strategic plan, the network is expected to connect 1.2 million houses to gas distribution network in various districts or cities throughout Indonesia.
